    Hi Room 29

The French Bay day sounds good Ella – as does the Harry Snotter idea. We would love to hear you share it. Nice to hear from Oliver RD from another place in the world too.

Our site can now be found in Google by searching room29space – it does have to be joined like that for the moment.

I have found a cool photo site where you can make videos from your own pictures, you can add music also, as well as effects – although I haven’t had time to figure that part out just yet. Go here for a look http://animoto.com/. You have to sign up for free, check with your parents before you do that.

I made a short one that you can watch on the writing page. Unfortunately I didn’t have all the pictures I took that day so had to use the ones already on the site. It looks cool though – See you for now.

Hi guys I am having a great time in malaysia, I went to a theme park which is the biggest indoor one in malaysia! I also went to a place called sunway lagoon and its got a water park, it was really fun. I have just been in the car after weve been searching all day for a hotel and we have had a difficult time. it is hard to find internet here but I am now in a hotel with wireless internet and its really cool.

I thought that everybody knew that I was in malaysia, scince people were coming up to me asking to buy a computer.

I feel sorry for erin having a not so good holiday but at least you can still talk on this website!

I have even bought heaps of dvds scince their really cheap here.

  12.   Jennifer on September 23, 2007 9:11 am

Hi guys! This is the REAl 2nd day of holiday for me. But I don’t get to do much. boo hoo. My parents are busy, my sisters are being silly. Plus my computer is getting really SLOW!!!!! It’s sometimes normal and sometimes slow. It’s normally fast in the morning, early in the morning. So I need to get up at 7.45 just to go on the computer.

It’s so slow, more slow than the left hand side computer at our class! It takes 30 minutes just to get to 1 web page!

  13.   Tony (Tessas dad) on September 23, 2007 7:47 pm

    Hi Room 29,
It looks like some of you are overseas and some are staying in Auckland and maybe others are going away for a few days in NZ. Tessa sent me the link to your site while I as at work today and it looks awesome!

There is some great writing on the site – keep it up and post a few comments about your holidays. I know I am looking forward to having a few days away from work with Tessa and Joshua and their cousins (and my sister too). With a bit of luck Tessa might be able to post a comment or two while we are away.

    Go Room 29!
    Tony

  14.   room29space on September 24, 2007 12:14 pm

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for your positive comments. I am glad that Tessa has shared the site with you, as this is one of the reasons that the learning and thinking that has and will continue to occur here, is so powerful. Make sure to have a check of the links on the information page.

I look forward to reading the additional comments from your family.

    Andrew.

    Hi Room 29 & Tessa,

    I am Tessa’s Nana.
You kids are way ahead of me!! I hardly know what a blog is let alone how to “do it”.
Basil (Tessa’s Papa) and I will go to the beach with Tessa and her cousins who are also our grandchildren. We are only going for the day as there is not much space in the place they are staying in. We hope that it will be lovely and sunny so that those of us with wetsuits can have a swim.

This goes to show that you children can teach us older people as well as the other way around!

    Happy holidays.

  17.   Jennifer on September 24, 2007 9:53 pm

    Hi guys!

Today is a traditional chinese day. We eat all sorts of traditional food today so me and my mum took hours to get the food ready! It’s kind of unfiar for me to do it with mum. My sisters get to play games, but they don’t don’t anything abouthard work and they’ll just mess up if they had a go at making it. All this food talk makes me hungry, I’ll just grab a snack.

  18.   erik on September 25, 2007 5:11 pm

    hi everyone

just earlier today we went to Colin McCahon’s home in the bush. Colin is a famous New Zealand artist, he’s also my favourite artist. anyway at this house it was all old and it had NO TECNOLOGY AT ALL (must’ve been pretty hard) Colin and his wife Anne McCahon had four children two boys and two girls and they had a VERY small house; around half the size as they are in the modern times. the children slept in bunk beds in a three sided shelter facing the forest (that must have been cold). it showed us a timeline of all of his paintings that he did in the house. I would’ve thought that he had spent most of the time painting all of his paintings, but, he didn’t he actually spent alot of his time painting but doing up the house

We got to see an old copper tub that they used to wash there clothes in and they were all busted and bent. they were about half the size as our desks at school.

thay had a long drop and the basins were concrete and about twice as big as our desks over in school.

later today, after we visited Colin McCahon’s house in the woods, we went to Lopdell House Gallery and in that gallery we went into this room that had a bit of wonderful photgraphy by Chris Hoult. mine and Mum’s favourite was one called ‘Kereru
feeding’. it was of a Kereru (Wood Pigeon) with a berry in it’s mouth.

  19.   Oliver RD on September 25, 2007 6:03 pm

    Hi guys,

Last night a lot of people went out onto the beach and dug holes then put candles in them and it looked really cool with all these candles in the sand. Also some people got lanterns and took a branch and put the lanterns onto it then stuck it into the sand next to their candles. Most people made a mountain of sand then stuck the branch in. on the same night was the mooncake festival and outside our hotel they were setting up tables for it but then the rain came and they stopped. Everywhere else there was mooncakes and people eating them and my parents and me even tried some! On that night there was a full moon so I think its all linked.

Also I saw some teenagers throwing these packets on the ground and they poppped and blew up. My dad told me that they were illegal in New Zealand. for some reason they are not illegal there so I bought some, they are really cheap only 30 malaysian cents which is about 5 cents here. You press the packet and it swells up and then you throw it on the ground and it will explode.

    From Oliver RD in Malaysia!

  20.   room29space on September 25, 2007 6:06 pm

Great post Erik – very informative and I think I will be going for a visit to Colin’s house. I have actually been reading about it in the Western Leader, which is my local newspaper. I found a link for other people to have a look – hopefully more of Room 29 can go there. It sounds great.

It sounds like Oliver RD is having some great fun. Careful with those bombs Oliver :)

Have fun Room 29 – it’s great to hear from you.

  21.   Ella on September 25, 2007 6:28 pm

    Hi guys, it’s Ella here,

Did you now that I have just been over to school to do some bike riding and guess what, there were four teenagers in the pool that were being naughty by climbing over the swimming pool gate. We then met up with Keaton Stevens mum because she lives next door to the school and she bought her camera with her and she took photos. But they started swearing at us and so she rang the police on her home phone because she bought that over as well and the police did not do anything about it, so they will probably came back and do more damage!!!!

Another thing that has happened to me is me and dad went over to pukekoe to get our car serviced and they said that it would be one to two hours so we went and did some things and we came back but to our surprise they hadn’t even started so we went back and did other things for another one and a half hours. So we came back to the shop and asked if it was done and they said yes. So we took the car back but they didn’t even say sorry. Which we found very rude.

hi guys its Georgia here (tessa’s cousin) we are at Pauanui. so far this has been really fun. one of my favourite things was playing on the hamock. the girls would sit on the hamock and the boys would push, then we would swap. the worst thing could happen is falling off, which all of us did. it really hurt!! we fell flat on our noses. wonder what tomorrow will bring!!

  24.   Jock on September 26, 2007 5:03 pm

I have had quite a good hoilday but I nearly feel off the roof and killed myself but my best friends harison, francesco and alessandro came to the rescue as I was going to fall into a sqeekey guter and fall onto rocks as sharp as razers. but i was caught by harisons legs. and when I came into the house I hit my head on a table.

  25.   Jennifer on September 26, 2007 7:58 pm

    Ouch Jock!

I had a very interresting day today! My sisters made these paper DVDS from paper and told my 3 year old sister that they’re real. Then they made all these carboared puppets of the sponge bob square pants characters and made a puppet show for my little sister. It was really funny and they told her it was the DVDs!

Also my sisters also had another plan, they made 4 beds from boxes! they are really stable and even my dad can have a rest on it. I can’t wait to sleep on them tonight! It would be alittle werid, but it’s creative.

Plus today me and my mum watched a horror programme. SCARY!

  26.   Louisa on September 27, 2007 10:31 am

    Hi everybody,

Jock that sounds horrible. Did you hurt yourself?
I went to Monto Cecilia house. It was huge and there were six bedrooms on the second story. At the top there was this tiny room which would of been boiling in the summer. The grounds were very big and I climbed this tree which had branches very low. I also had a picnic in the grounds. Tommorow my cousins are arriving here from Christchurch.

I hope you are all having fun,

    Louisa

Wow Brittany. Sounds like you are having a great time. At the moment it’s really cold and wintery here in Auckland – it was even hailing just a little while ago. The sound of that pool makes me think that it must be lovely and warm where you are. You are so lucky!

    Take care everyone.

    See you soon,

I so miss going sea biscuiting behind our boat it was so fun and scary! I got tipped off heaps!
You could hear my cousin Georgia screaming from the beach. (I could tell dad was trying to get Georgia off!)

A Few days later I had to go to hospital to get an operation done!
    Poor me!

  36.   Louisa on October 5, 2007 5:49 pm

    Hi,

Today I went to spookers with Hanna, Ben, my cousins and my family. We went on the day tour of the haunted house.

There was this man who had white eyes and lo frightening who took us aroung. He gave me a big fright because he was in a jail cell and said that we had to find a kkey to let him out. While we were looking for it he suddenly got out and scared us.

We also heard about the night tours for adults. It looked very scary.

There was also a maze there where you had to put on 3d glasses. Everything was popping out. There was a cage in the maze and I banged into the side of it since it was dark.

My cousins have just gone home now.

    See you at school,

    louisa

  38.   Room29Space on October 6, 2007 10:50 am

Hi Jennifer – You have probably done it by now, but you just have to type in the words as the appear in the box. I think it may ask for two words, type them as the appear.

Jennifer it would also be great if you could give some of the New York people some feedback here and also make sure you visit their site (its on the Blogroll you can see to the right) and leave a message – make sure to include our site address when you leave one :)

    See you tomorrow.

In New York we celebrate a holiday called Halloween. We put on scary costumes and collect candy with our friends. To get candy we say the magic words which are “Trick or Treat”.

What kind of special holiday do you celebrate?

In New Zealand we do Halloween as well. We also have Easter and we have school holidays too. In easter we have easter eggs.

    Hello,

I have been to heaps of places such as the Auckland Luge and the beach with my cousins.

The luge was exciting and my favorite tracks were the intermediate and advanced. The only thing was that it took for ever to get to the top.

The sea was very warm and I stayed in it for ages. There were quite alot of people there because it was a good day.

I hope you are all having a great holiday,

    Hi,

I have just had my holiday.

First of all I went to the Bay Of Islands where I went on a boat trip and saw 2 whales and heaps of dolphins. Usually people don’t get to swim with the dolphins because the babys get frightened but when I went there were no babys.

I also went to the top of New Zealand and I went down the sand dunes. I went very fast but it was tiering trying to get up again.

I went to long beach in Russel. It had big waves to ride on and the water was so warm.

After that I went to Kai iwi Lakes and I stayed at a camping site near by with friends. The lake was very warm and at the camp site there is a river which was fun to play in. I went Kayaking but standing up at the lakes too. It was fun and once I got the hang of it it was just like normal kayaking.

I hope to see you all soon,

    Louisa
